Who would be up for a Fruitcakes meet up? Im thinking rally field in the middle of nowhere or the Tan Hill Inn (google it)
Obviously not for a bit yet. Other posaibilities are a couple of pubs ooop north that the wildy lot have used and I have one or two other ideas.
Would anyone be interested?
It would be useful if you posted your interest, location and preferred venue for me to ignore.
I think we would need to open it up a bit to the other channels.
Not this year obviously but spring or something?

I would be interested but it will have to be Spain or after May, Germany, Alan.

Not to worry, there are plenty of other people who will go I am sure. Anyway, I hate beer, honest, Alan.

I'm oop for it, bonny lad. I'd like to try the Weymouth meet if it happens, and I want to get up to Hebrides, plus I'll be doing a meet with pals up Lancashire way so maybe I can meet up with the Fruitcakes as part of the same megatrip. If beer and larfs are on the menu 'twould be great, and if Sexybint/Justin should do a turn even better.

Hi.
Wastwater is good you can wild camp at the end next to the pub, and the scenery is amazing, might even chuck the dive gear in and go for a dive..
It's worth the trip to the Lake District especaly if you have never been.
Look on Google Earth and follow the lake down to the pub, you can see Englands highest peak near it, and all the various walks

Also its officially a 6ft6" restriction that last 4 miles to the end of the lake. Still like the idea though. There is always the Ambleside Aire as well. I liked the idea of Tan Hill as its the highest pub in England but the Lakes might be better as it gives people another reason to go as they can make a bit of a holiday of it. Either that or Ill just get a local field sorted round here. Teesdale is pretty nice Course we could have it Darn Sarf!!!

Hi.
Well there is always here at Aldbrough, there is a camping field with all facilities, we have a large club on site with entertainment on a weekend, cafe, laundrette, shops down in the village 5 mins away, kids playground if you want to bring the grand kids on the Static caravan side, there is Freeport shopping complex down the road for the ladies, as well as Hornsea Withernsea and Bridlington just down the road a bit..Hull the "City of Culture" 20 mins away, Cough! Flambrough Head 40 mins down the road. Loads of cliff top walks to blow the cobwebs off. And 5 fishing lakes if anybody fancy's a go. I should be able to lay on a mini bus or something if anybody fancied a night out in Hull...
Golf courses, riding and other stuff for those enegetic ones.... and it is easy to get too and just about halfway up or down the country....
Depending on numbers I should be able to twist the camp sites arm for a bit off the bill..

Im worming my way in on that one (more later). It is a terrific location. Yours sounds better though. Lets keep that one in mind as well.

I'm up for it but I would need a lot of advance notice as, looking at a map, "Up North" seems a long way from Sussex. I guess there are decent roads that will get me there? Will I have to speak "funny" when I get there?

Will I have to speak "funny" when I get there? Sussex is a long way from anywhere civilised! No you wont have to speak funny. We could have it somewhere posh in Yorkshire if you like. However Im leaning towards Rays Seaside idea though. Think that will be a right old laugh. We could have a day out in Bridlington or Scarborough where yes they do speak funny. Im not sure a fruitcakes night out in Hull is advisable though. That might be too much for our refined southern guests.

Hi..
We go to the Theatre in Hull, last one was Bill Bailey on his Dandalion Tour then Hello Hello, I vill say this only once.. Lots of good stuff especially in the Hull Truck Theatre.. plenty of museums, William Wilberforce came from Hull who knocked slavery on the head..There is tons of stuff to see do and visit, see Hull and your preconcieved Ideas of it as a place will be blown out of the water..
Thats why it got the City of Culture , just keep away from the Brandshome estate area which is well out of the city anyway..
ray.
