I woz a Rocker - great days. Rode Beezas. Had a few rumbles with those sissy mods. I used to cycle along Brighton seafront thinking what Twats both groups looked like - no exceptions. I did not know you became one so young Roger What do you mean 'so young' Geoff? I was born in Jan 1948, and in 1965 I was 17, with a BSA Super Rocket. The rumbles with the Mods might have started in Brighton in 1964, but they carried on in various seaside towns through 1965 and 1966, including Scarborough, where all the rockers used to go throughout the summer, including race meetings at Oliver's Mount. The Mods at that time generally stuck to Bridlington, but in 1965 there were a few battles in Scarborough which I can remember.

They probably thought you looked daft too, riding a pushbike and wearing cycle clips and a yellow plastic raincape. I'm bloody sure I must've done! Probably would have been better to have worn something underneath. That would explain why my cycle clips were a bit loose.
