There were a few fuel stations shut just south of Rouen and a bit of queing in some places but fuel seems to be there. We are at Rubles and they have Intermarche fuel available. I'm down to half at tank plus 5 gallons so I will top up in the morning.
Fecking expensive start to the holiday as we had a problem this morning. The electric gate on the waste tank was open and there is no indication to tell you that it is. MrsGB literally poured a flask of water down the sink as the Municipale Police drove by. The officer for a handbrake turn and the passenger jumped out so quickly I thought we were in imminent danger. No, he had spotted the water and was a writing out a ticket like his job depended on it. When he saw me he pointed to the water under the van. I explained that it must be a problem as the manual valve was closed and so it shouldn't be leaking. Whilst I was under the van trying to locate the problem he thrust a ticket at me. I explained ed that I didn't understand and he shrugged and handed it over. His finger tapped on the address of the station before he and his mate climbed into their car, laughed and fecked off. So much for hug a Br it!
Not even sure what the fine is, either 68 euros or 180 FFS. Have no idea how to pay it or if I should.
Fecking mifi dongle isn't working either so I am well stressed and it is only day two.

Cheeky feckers! I Wouldnt pay it. Not heard that one before. I do hope its not a sign of things to come seeing as we are on the verge of falling out with Europe. Sounds like not a good start Terry. It is often the way. Hopefully good times just around the corner.

Sounds a bit stoooopid to me, what happens if you don't pay ? Not a pleasant start, but don't let it upset you, at least you can get diesel, don't put petrol in instead, like wot someone did a few weeks ago.

Dont worry about it Terry. If they were serious they would have waited for the dosh there and then. They won't be able to enforce anything that wasnt recorded eg radar gun for speeding. So unless you saw them taking loads of photos of your so called offence then I would firmly forget about it and enjoy your holiday. Have fun !

Good point Sarah. Terry, when you get back online you must post that on FUCTs. I would maybe exaggerate it a bit and make out you were dumping 100 litres of week old grey outside the cop shop but you just dont see what all the fuss is about. IT might be a good thread and a distraction from all the Brexit stuff.

I'm bloody glad the Austrian police weren't around in March. we left the Dolomites to head to SkiWelt in Austria and - as usual - the grey waste drain pipe had frozen solid (probably the lower part of the tank as well) as we'd been in sub-zero for 10 days. so, knowing that I could do bugger all about dumping the grey waste we left and I'd dump it when we reached the next campsite - as we were dropping altitude to warmer climes around Innsbruck, I figured it would defrost OK en route and as we have done before. no problemo. 'cept I forgot to close the valve. sure enough it thawed out - on the A13 heading east of Innsbruck dumping about 100 litre of grey waste over the lovely Austrian autobahn and for the next 10 mins I watched a steady stream of grey waste trail behind me. not an insubstantial number of following vehicles got wet. ooops!! so glad there were no Polizei around that day!!
