I have a top box on the van that I don't use so want to take off. It is stuck on the roof with, I presume, Silkafix or similar. Any ideas on how to get it off? Attachment Deleted

Tooth floss and use it like a saw.

Hmm. Not easy. I had one of those flaming things on. Me and my neighbour took it off. It was mounted on the two fibre glass rail things on the roof. As you say stuck down and bolted down. We took the bolts out but ended up having to rive the fecker off which ripped up some of the fibre glass off the rails. I just sycoflexed some fibreglass strips on which eventually came off so just wacked loads of sycoflex on the rails and left it. Not pretty but we have not had any issues probably because the rails are solid and stand proud of the roof for at least an inch or two.
If its stuck directly to your roof you may need a more technical solution

Sikaflex can be softened by careful use of a heat gun (used on boats all the time). In your case, access to the Sika is the problem.
I suspect you'd have to have one person applying the heat (carefully) to the inside of the box while another person worked on the softened Sika.
Worst case scenario, sacrifice the box by cutting round the bottom corner to just leave the base. Then use something like a Dremel to cut the base into smaller sections that can be removed individually using heat.
Hopefully the box is secured by spaced blobs of the stuff rather than over the whole base.

Cut off the top bit and then fit a solar panel over the remains of the base?

OK so my tooth floss was a bit underpower, Hans uses that for little things stuck with double sided tape. He says use a thin wire like trip wire, 2 man job as I said like a saw, seesaw, the wire will cut through he says, no fail, add a drop of oil occasionally, he has done several things with this method, here´s his tool, ( what did I say) gadget sound better. Shown is a military trip wire of 1mm dia approx. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

There ya go, Joe, just pop down to Sainsbury's for some military trip wire. Guffaw.
It does seem like a decent idea, though.
Despite the fact he married Milly, that Hans seems like quite a bright chap.

Milly prolly won't say, but Hans is actually a superb, inventive and very talented engineer.
I nearly bought one of his products. In fact, I would have if I didn't already have an alternative version.

I don't even know what his products were. Has anything been said on here that I've missed? I have been away, you know.
