I have been researching the possibility of Re-registering our MH in Poland.
I anticipated being required to prove that VAT had been paid in UK on initial sale, but to my surprise I found that re-registering would incur an 'Excise tax' of 18.6% of the value.
What happened to 'Free movement of Goods'?
This has nothing to do with Brexit, as when we checked on our car purchase of a secondhand car from Germany 2-3 years ago we found the importing dealer provided proof of the tax having been paid, albeit at a much lower rate than 18.6%, which is charged on vehicles with engines over 2lt.
I welcome others' experience of re-registering an EU VAT-paid car in another EU country and any tax requirement.

I've considered re-registering my BMW motorcycle in France (now decided against it, for other reasons) but it was so straightforward. I feel certain that the "Excise tax" you mention is maybe VAT? In which case, if you prove its been paid and the vehicle is over a certain age, there should be no more to pay, apart from a nominal amount for local paperwork perhaps? BUT... it might be an additional tax, on top of VAT, that all Polish vehicle owners have to pay?? Good luck. By the way, I reasoned that moving my BMW from one EU country to another (pre-Brexit) would be easier than maybe later, post-Brexit, "importing" it into France? This is the site I worked from... tinyurl.com/yafd8wd6

Boggers
Definitely not VAT which is 23% in Poland.
Anyway since my post we have been in touch with the dealer who imported our secondhand car from Germany and he has offered to have a 'chat' over a coffee - but not on the phone !
That will have to wait till Basia(for translation) returns from the health farm in 2 weeks, so the matter is on hold.

Sounds to me like some kind of environment tax that Poland have just decided to slap on any vehicle thats imported if it varies on engine size.

I've got a brilliant idea, sell it to the Tasmanian it will solve all his problems and then you can buy a brand new Beesman and Nischoff in Poland. Or is it Kneesmann & Pissoff ? anyway you can spend the boat money on a new Polish one of them. These look nice www.niesmann-bischoff.com/en/

Just joined this forum and noticed your thread. I'm British and live in Poland and have done for a little while.
You can get one tax free import if you say you are relocating to Poland from another EU country. I registered my Lexus here last year and went through a registration service in Poznan who dealt with the customs side of things. (Saved close to 10k pln in import tax by doing it this way)
Now in the process of registering the motorhome and as it's over 2.0 it will be liable for the 18.6% import duty. I'm now wondering if I can simply import it as a 1993 Fiat Ducato with a value of around 3000 pln.... Downside is that insurance on motorhomes here seems to be very high indeed!
If you want a more detailed response on the registration process I'm happy to write down everything I know about it.

"buy brand new"?
Go and wash your mouth out. Do you think I have gone soft-headed in my old age?
Anyway one cannot but new in Poland as their is no authorised dealer, but as a result N&B have said I can deal directly with them at Polch, but they would not take my RHD as P/X.
