I've just bought a motorhome and the dealer also gave me one of them orange electric hookup cables so I could connect to the mains leccy when on campsite but what I need to know is which end to I plug into the van and which end into the campsite socket? Any advice welcomed.
The van also comes with them concertina Reimo cab blinds. Now I know you need to open the ones over the windscreen when I'm driving, but is it OK to keep the ones over the cab doors closed as I always drive in the slow lane and never need to use my mirrors to change lanes.
Can I also post other inane and stupid questions here, or do I need to join FUCTS to do so?

No. You need to join FUCTS or even OAL. That kind of question is way to complicated for us.

If you fit a dash cam you can drive with the front blinds closed, that's what they're for innit. I think you should probably point the camera froward.

The brake's in the middle, unless it's an automatic..........
Oh, and by the way, you sit behind the steering wheel, unless you're a passenger.

If it's an automatic it stops itself, abruptly. They don't need brakes as the designers haven't quite got the whole automatic thing right yet. To be honest I think calling them automatic is a bit of an exaggeration.

To be honest I think calling them automatic is a bit of an exaggeration. Well I went into a garage yesterday which had a big sign outside proclaiming "Hire a self-drive car here" but when I tried to do so the guy asked to see my driving licence. I told him that I only wanted to hire a self-drive car, not drive it myself, so why did I need a driving licence. He then became very unfriendly and used such foul language that I decided not to hire a vehicle from him at all and left.

To be honest I think calling them automatic is a bit of an exaggeration. Also if it is an automatic and has cruise control you can make a cup of tea as you bowl along the highways and byways. PS, you never heard of google?

PS, you never heard of google? An American screenwriter buddy of mine and her husband own a large RV and they go off every winter across the US to Florida as 'snowbirds'. They drive non-stop and change driver whilst the vehicle is thundering along using the cruise control - one climbs out one side of the driver's seat as the other climbs in the other. Absolute madness. They've even made videos of it! NOTE: you don't need an automatic to do this, just cruise control - not that I'm advocating it. Which reminds me, I haven't heard from my buddy since they set off to go to Florida in December, so maybe the 'trick' didn't work for them this time.

On his trip home from an OU football game, having driven onto the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly the RV left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him in the owner's manual tat he could not actually do this. The jury awarded him> $1,750,000 plus a new Winnebago Motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit just in case there were any other complete morons buying their recreational vehicles.'

We have friends who do that in a massive RV Liam. They are nuts.
Followed them from Spain to Germany a few years ago and could not figure out how he could keep going for 7 or 8 hours at a time. I asked and was shown, while the van was parked of course.

Oh dear, and I though my buddies were the only ones who were daft enough to do that but that I was safe as long as they stayed on their side of the pond. Now I know different. Thanks for the warning, Alan; I'll stay off the routes between Germany and Spain.

Drat, it mentions in my vehicle handbook (Sevel Shite) that one must remain in the driver's seat whilst cruise control is engaged, so I suppose I can't sue them for mega bucks now!

Have a go anyway. Who reads handbooks FFS. Excellent point! Were you a lawyer in another life? PS: On a related issue, you might remember than I posted on Fruitcakes about my Peugeot Dealer stinging me last week for £53 to fix my door. They claimed it was an 'adjustment' and their warranty booklet states that Peugeot does not cover 'adjustments' after the first 12 months. I argued the toss with Peugeot UK and got my money back, albeit on a 'without prejudice' basis. Oh, and I had read the handbook before I argued the toss; words don't necessarily mean what the manufacturers intend them to mean, so what's the point of reading them anyway.
