No! I dunno whats up with the scooter. Its never been back to the garage, partly because the fecking place burned down and also because after much running about it seemed to improve but it still cuts out and farts about after about half a mile of running then about five minutes later its ok.

Does the problem go away when it's warmed up?

Does the problem go away when it's warmed up? Yes but its not as simple as that. Its fine as soon as its started and will run fine for maybe quarter of a mile or so then it starts to die a bit but not as bad as it was. A few runs up and down and its fine and then will be fine all day. Well the few runs Ive done seem to suggest that. I was going to run it to Barney when the fuel is empty and start using some of that super unleaded stuff which I think has properties in it that clean stuff. It suggests to me that there isnt enough fuel getting through at first but maybe there is enough fuel there for the first quarter of a mile. I dont fecking know, its fuel injection so feck knows how all that works.

It wouldn't hurt to run some injector cleaner through the system. I don't know what's the best one, but Wynn's is a good make and have been in the business for decades - tinyurl.com/y25w6255 These niggles can be infuriating to sort. Just work your way through the possibilities, cheapest, easiest first. While you're in Halfords, buy a little aerosol of 'contact cleaner', then work through all the electrical connectors you can see, gently disconnect, clean and spray with the contact cleaner and push back together. That'll eliminate another possibility. Drain (or just use up) the fuel tank, fill with clean fuel. Fit a new suppressor cap (unlikely to be the problem, but...?) onto a new spark plug. And so on. So far that will have cost you just £10 or £12 plus a spark plug, instead of a massive garage bill. Good luck.

The blokes on the bikechat forum reckoned the stuff thats in that injector cleaner is present in the super unleaded but many said its all snake oil. Ill try the better fuel first, see if it makes a difference. Cant see it being electrical as there is a pattern to it, its had a spark plug as part of its service.

All good. See? You're getting there, gradually eliminating the possibilities. Don't ignore something like "electrical connection" though - put it further down the list maybe, but it could be a connector that's got near the exhaust and is affected by the heat for instance. But don't spend unnecessary money until you've explored the cheap options. A tank of fuel is good - you're gonna use it anyway!!
