Comment on ARRSE...
Reminds me of an ex of Salisbury Plain when the Yeomanry had converted to Armour crews. I was in the Sqn 2ics tank as a TA gunner. The driver was doing his own thing and not listening to the tank commander (Sqn 2ic). After telling the driver to slow down and watch the slope in case he threw a track the comd shouted "Driver Stop". When the vehicle came to a halt the commander quietly, and with much malice implied, started the bollocking with the words "You are driving like a cnut..."
We set off again after a minute, over a crest and to avoid burying the muzzle in the ground on the other side of the dip I tried to elevate the gun - the controls were dead. After another emergency stop there was an quick check on the GCE panels, followed by an embarrassed pause... after which the commander somewhat sheepishly apologised for having taken control of the GCE on the approach to the crest to orientate the turret and not switched it back to me.
There but for the grace of God...
