after suffering shite radio reception I have finally bit the bullet and had an external aerial fitted to the bodywork and I can hear the fucking radio now without static and hiss drowning it out
why the fuck I went to the bother of trying 2 different windscreen aerials AND plug a new all singing and dancing radio in to the dash I have no idea when a simple bodywork mounted aerial has solved all woes (allegedly - works fine stationary but have yet to give it a road test). £70 well spent methinks getting it fitted.
it amazes me that manufacturers go to the extent of selling us expensive motorhomes yet skimp on something so fucking cheap as a decent aerial that it won't make a difference to their profit margin

It's the wire. They only like to wire short distances otherwise they forget whats has to go the other end when it come to fitting the item. I have come to the conclusion that most motor homes are put together by people like me who specialise in percussion tools and don't feel the need to use tape measures when a guess will do.

My aerial is mounted on the front wing and the reception is shite. Probably due to the size of the overcab. Still haven't decided what to do.

Get the wife to hold it out of the window when driving. Even better, open the roof light and get her to stand on a chair or the dinette table whilst holding it out of there. (Unless you have a big sod-off RV, in which case you will need step-ladders)

You only get aerials for top of the range models. You get coat hangers for Extra Value models but no radio.

Try touching it with radio on and see if it makes a difference I answered this earlier on, but obviously didn't hit the tit. Doh! My radio reception is OK when I'm stopped, just rubbish when I'm on the move. Not electrical noise, just losing the signal and I'm continually having to hit the auto retune button. I don't like the particular radio anyway, it isn't intuitive for a numpty like me, so I'm going to change that first (maybe while I'm out on the road) and take some aerial cable with me to try connecting to the TV aerial as a test.

Make sure you stop driving before you change the radio, Tuggers, or you could have a crash. Also, BT might hire you one of those big cable reels on trailers with a few miles of aerial cable on (see image below) so you can do a proper test whilst connected to the TV aerial. Don't fall off the house roof when connecting up to the aerial, and wear a hard hat. Oh, and it is advisable to wind out the cable first and attach a bright fluorescent warning flag to it every six feet to warn following traffic you are paying out the line connected to the house a few miles back. It might also be advisable to do it in the early hours of the morning, or put in an application for road closures over your planned route. Tell us how you get on. R ???GER

We've got quite a good CD/DVD/radio player in ours it even connects to the TV in the hab area for playing DVDs with surround sound but I can't connect my iPod to it and all of my music is stored on there rather than in CDs Pees me off
