I'm up for it but I would need a lot of advance notice as, looking at a map, "Up North" seems a long way from Sussex. I guess there are decent roads that will get me there? Will I have to speak "funny" when I get there? Well Sussex is a lot closer than Devon. Stop being such a jessie, it's people like you get us southerners a bad name!

Hi.. We go to the Theatre in Hull, last one was Bill Bailey on his Dandalion Tour then Hello Hello, I vill say this only once.. Lots of good stuff especially in the Hull Truck Theatre.. plenty of museums, William Wilberforce came from Hull who knocked slavery on the head..There is tons of stuff to see do and visit, see Hull and your preconcieved Ideas of it as a place will be blown out of the water.. Thats why it got the City of Culture , just keep away from the Brandshome estate area which is well out of the city anyway.. ray. Ive seen loads of productions from the Hull Truck lot! Brilliant! I never thought they really came from Hull though. Not sure why. The names a bit of a clue. Im not fussed where we go. I used to go to Middlesbrough not that long ago to watch bands. Its a bit like entering one of those Zombie games / movies. There is a serious chance you are going to die but if its the only place your band of choice is playing you have to do it.

Hi. Wastwater is good you can wild camp at the end next to the pub, and the scenery is amazing, might even chuck the dive gear in and go for a dive.. It's worth the trip to the Lake District especaly if you have never been. Look on Google Earth and follow the lake down to the pub, you can see Englands highest peak near it, and all the various walks ray I got well peissed up there back in the late 70s, me and a sheep over the wall had a great conversation going until I felt the need to sleep, it was a really dark no moon night, and we had to crawl down the road to the camp site on our hands and knees to see the white line, not sure where the sheep went. I'd appreciate the co ords Ray so I can google earth the site, but it is really beautiful up there, deepest lake in England too I recall. Kwique KwizzQ, How many lakes in the lake district? A, 1.

That link doesnt work numbnuts. I once went over on my motorbike to the pub at the head of wastwater and there was a coach load of Swedish Women staying (I know you couldnt make it up) and a band on. I had a great time reciting Abba songs and sharing Freda's Smorgasbord in the morning. Happy Days. Somehow I fear going there with you lot will not be quite the same.

Hi.
Put N 54..28...02 W3...15..22 in google earth and you should get Wasdale Head Inn at the end of Wastwater, there being a height restrician down Wastwater is news to me....
If you put N53..50...10 W0...05..43 In google earth you can look at our campsite and surrounding district, the touring Field is on the left as you face the sea, and it is an old picture, I got the campsite to put in facilities a couple of years back when they asked me what tuggers and motor homer's would need, as they only used to have tents in that field.
If you go to street view and go down Seaside Rd towards the sea and before you get to the Double Dutch Pub there is a car park and you can see my old works van parked up With Ray Walker on the side... Exciting init!.....

Hi.
When did this come in as we have been down the side of Wastwater in the van a lot of times when we have dived the lake, and stayed in the various car parks dotted down the edge, but this was in the winter and nobody bothered us.
We have stayed in the pub car park during the summer for a night, and the camp site just after the bridge over the river near the first pub, it was a Peter Butterworth Carry on Camping experience..
There are lorries going down the road to the pub to deliver the beer, so I wonder where the width restrician could be..

We spent a night half way down the lake and Im pretty sure there was a 6ft 6 restriction about 3 or 4 miles from the head in fact we pitched just outside it. There was still one or two motorhomes going along though. There was a thread somewhere recently about the national trust campsite putting signs up about not wilding and using their site as well (Cant remember where or which forum). I think he challanged a few wilders. Some succumbed and others told him to get lost. Technically they are all breaking the law though if it is 6ft 6 restricted.

I did that too Ray, but there seems to be too many .... between the numbers, and I'm not sure what the correct format should be. See pic below, I tried varying the dots too, but still got nothing?

These 6'6" and 7'6" limits are all over the place, Honiston pass is the only one we've found where they really mean it, but it's more length than width I think on a bad corner, to stop the tuggers going through, That's tuggers as in caravaners, not the twat with the popeye avatar.
