The overhang on our m/h is quite long and the rear valance is low and I scraped the fucker on the road when driving up onto a steep grassy ramp last Saturday night - just completely forgot to check as we were doing it.
It's broken in a few places (lugs broken off, a couple of tears in the plastic) and as usual gaffer tape came in handy for an instant fix to stop things flapping around when driving and making it worse.
Went to the local dealer repair place yesterday to get some quotes - about £1000 to replace; about £400 to repair.
Looks like the repair will get the go ahead.
Bollocks...

Tough luck Fats, it's sickening when you damage your van. I reversed into a concrete bin last outing...biggest flattest area we had parked on in the whole three months. Completely forgot that there was a bin and reversed back slowly for 20 feet trying to find a good view and get level. Slow impact collision but cracked the corner of the bumper. Fortunately I have been able to fix it with some fibreglass on the back of it and it's not noticeable. Few years back we had an insurance claim for a rear bumper for our old Hym-er £1200 for the bloody thing and we sold the van before it arrived from Germany and the new owner didn't want it. Sits in my garage gathering dust.

Bad luck Fats. Too late now but can you not fit something under the back to avoid it happening in future? I know when ours has grounded on a couple of small ferries there is a heavy duty metal guard thing under the tow bar which is all that ever makes contacts. Its better since we got a new axle a few years back as before that the rear end was about 4 inches lower than it is now. As for hitting things reversing. Get a scooter rack. They are great for punting stuff out of the way.

Sorry to hear that, Fats. Will you be going 'on the game' to pay for it?
Or do what I do, sell stuff to pay for other stuff. I sold stuff for hundreds the other day, but it's all going on crashed model aircraft.

Hold yer horses fats, we have just had ours repaired, Hans is going to find out what was used, you can do it yourself if your a handyman. This stuff has repaired a wing mirror and now the overhang, will put a picture of the repaired van in a few mins.

Aldo's Amazing Mastic Service will probably be able to stick it all back together...so long as you don't mind it being in white.

Good job Mildred, how did he get the paint mix correct? Seems like most of the motorhome manufactures keep their paint codes a state secret.

nice work there Mildred but frankly I CBA to do it myself, and as it's grey I'm likely to fuck up the colour match. I'll see what the final quotes come out as then decide whether to do an insurance claim or not - will do if I replace, probably not (due to XS) if I don't.

No paint used Terry, he is a genius, but says he´s not happy in himself for not getting it smoother, he tried and didn´t succeed. When we go to pay him Hans has a lot to ask him, I will pass on the answers.

I have damaged 2 rear bumpers on vans bt they have not cost as much as £400. Maybe just over half that and were really good jobs. Move North for more disposable income chaps.
