Just tell Ebay or PayPal and they will stop the payment and get your money back.

I have bought quite a few small and cheap items from China and if ever a problem I have been refunded or it's been replaced immediately.

Yep, been caught like that myself. The twats often put a Union Jack on the advert or mention a UK connection of some sort. What I do now is check the delivery dates. If it is more than a couple of days then it's from the Far East.
Mind you, Amazon is no fun either. I ordered a super duper mobile wifi router and Amazon cancelled the order. They sent me an email saying they could not withdraw the money from the registered Debit card. I have checked my Bank Account and the Amazon account and all is OK. I have raised an issue with them but in the meantime I have deleted my Card details from their website. What really annoys me is that I have been waiting all week for it to arrive and could not get into my emails for a few days until I sorted it out. I have sent an email direct to the company selling the router asking to purchase direct ... and stuff Amazon. " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png">

You can specify uk only when you search but it doesn't work always so I but a distance range in like say within 500 miles of my postcode.
However I have bought stuff from China that's been ok. My mppt solar controller came from Maximum Solar in China via eBay and he was excellent and good service. As said delivery dates are a giveaway but a lot of these Asian sellers have uk storage as well.

I have just had to enter into a dispute with some dubious trader who was supposed to have sent me a magnesium steel and flint. It is a gift for my grandson as he loves outdoor camping and roughing it. Mind you we are taking him and his sister away in the van so he was likely to have burnt it down.
