First things first she is alive and Ive just got off the phone to her. I got a Whatsapp message and email just now so ill just copy and paste it. "Oh what a catastrophe, filed the gas yesterday had a job releasing the nozzle gas shot out and caught fire, I am in hospital in Offenbach near Frankfurt Main I have burnt right hand and arm and a cut on my head with 6 stitches. The police are trying to find out what happened, the Paint of the van is scorched, but I think it’s still drivable, but no idea if anything needs replacing or if it’s just superficial. They tell me I will be in hospital for at least 10 days. Tomorrow they will cover the burnt skin with an artificial skin made from fish so I hope I won’t start to grow scales. I’m not in much pain only about 2 on a scale of 10. I’m sharing a room with Birgit a 61 year old who’s been here for 7 weeks she somehow managed to drop a boiling pot of noodle over herself and has a lot more injuries than me. She speaks very good English as do most of the staff. Don’t panic chaps, I’ll soon be back on the road again.
Have a nice relaxing holiday. L Jan X"
It sounds like she was struggling to release the LPG pump and it somehow spurted LPG everywhere and literally blew up. She is however in great spirits and in a room with another lady she has of course made good friends with. She was staying with Jurgen and Heike her good friends and had gone out to do some shopping. Motely was back at the house with Jurgen and Heike and is fine. She was airlifted to hospital in a helicopter. She is in great spirits. I think she is just overjoyed she wasnt blown to kingdom come. Made of strong stuff our Milly. Will let you know if there is any further news.

Daft old bugger, you got away with that so get well soon and a bit of T-Cut will make the van sparkle again. (Probably)

Flipping heck how the hell did it manage to catch fire? The connectors are usually made from brass so there shouldn't be a friction spark. At least our Milly seems in good spirits and will hopefully have a fast recovery.

Come on Millie we let you go out on your own and you try to burn down a petrol station.
If Ray is right about the T-cut it will help to put some muscle back into that right hand so that's a silver lining.
Now's where I should put something nice .................I hope you look better than the mh. 😢

Looks to me like the fridge was running on gas, or gas was off but still on inside so would have had the igniter sparking, look at the lower fridge vent .
But. So glad you're OK millie , lots of love and get wells from me ❤

I think you are right cookie. When the ignition is turned off on auto selection fridges there should e a delay before the fridge switches to gas. Maybe the fridge was manually set to gas instead of auto. It's easily done, I have done the same a number of times.
It could have been worse Millie, I hope you have a quick recovery.

Bloody hell Jan I was going to fill up with gas tomorrow but I think I will just leave it for a bit now. The auto for the fridge on mine cuts the gas for fifteen minutes before it reignites so if there is a delay longer than that it could well spark up at a most inconvenient time. I have spent ages trying to get the connector and pump to operate but never really considered the consequences. I hope that the skin graft goes well, get shark skin if you have a choice as it is much stronger than anything else. Speedy recovery. X

Whatever the cause there is no way it should have been spurting lpg all over.

Don’t panic chaps and chapesses, there’s a lot to be thankful for, Motley was not in the van I had left him with Heike & Jürgen and although he has been crying for me he will soon get used to me not being there. They love him and he them. I hope the reason for the gas escaping after the pump had stopped will be found. I have a lovely room mate, Birgit is 61 and her injuries are a lot worse than mine, she managed to tip a big pot of boiling spaghetti over herself and she doesn’t know how. Birgit speaks pretty good English so we swap languages all through the day. My right hand and arm are burnt, but not too terrible, it’s the bit under my thumb and the inside of my arm so once healed I won’t see much of the scar and others will only see it when I wave so I’ll wave with my left arm. As I am in West Germany all the doctors speak English and most of the nurses as well and I think they are all enjoying practicing there English with me, I’ve already taught them a few funny English sayings 😁. So my friend you know I’m a tough of bird, I’ve been singed, but not roasted. Either today or tomorrow they will put me to sleep to clean everything up, like removing dead skin and depending how deep the burn is they may put an artificial skin on made from shark protein so I’ll either be a bit snappier or as Barry says I might swim better.

Honestly Milly, you never cease to amaze me. Glad to see you are able to post and once again you are so positive. Gnome will be along in a minute to tell you about his broken finger nail. I suppose now wouldnt be a good time to tell you I just stubbed my toe on the bathroom door and cried like a little girl

Good to see that your sense of humour is still as sharp as ever. Lucky Motley is housed safely until you get out of hospital. Let’s hope that the burns are not too deep and heal quickly. X

Happened in Spain, guy had 2 extra bottles under his bed, 1 of which had a leaky valve which he even knew about ,but it's only a little leak, unfortunately the leak got worserer and the gas eventually found its way to the fridge, BOOM. Side of his van parted company with the rest .

The thread on Jan's accident on MHFacts has disappeared. Has that happened to others? Baz?
I have just phoned Jan and she is still waiting for this small Op to clean up her wounds and investigate how deep are the burns. The burns to her arm are on the forearm only.
She sounds in good spirits but complaining that she is hungry as she cannot eat until after the Op. She is not allowed visitors and even she had to have a Covid test before being admitted to the ward.
As Jan was on speaker her roommate was joining into the conversation. She has been there 7 weeks so her burns must have been extensive and more severe. Poor lady is still waiting to know whether she needs more surgery.
The MH is still at the garage, parked round the back and cordoned off, presumably by the police.
The fire brigade turned up and entered the MH in full protective gear to check that there were no further hazards. Presumably they also isolated the gas.
Jan will post when she has had the Op.

Blooming heck, that's a dull one Milly. Glad you are OK and you certainly are putting on a brave front. I hope all goes well for you.
Be interesting to hear the final verdict about why pump to tanks release took so long and was troublesome, fair to say gas would spewing out from both sources?
