I don't think anyone said it was. The impression I get from the news is that we were the only country having this problem.

Well I suppose its probably because our news tends to be about the UK and I suspect its worse here because all the funny foreigners who worked at airports etc fucked off.

People have always said that about France. It depends what you eat and drink. Eat what the French eat and drink.

BTW they didn't have any problems getting too or on or off the ferry, apparently they even sneaked some Blighty sasuages and milk into the EU ........ Which is not what the Remoaners want to hear ........

People have always said that about France. It depends what you eat and drink. Eat what the French eat and drink. No I must disagree. France is not cheap. Bread is expensive, meat is, even Cognac is expensive compared to UK. It's a fallacy that living in France us cheap. About the only item people quote is coffee and that's not cheap. I can buy 250g of ground coffee for £1 at B&M Wine in England is expensive but compared to Spain France is really dear. I can buy a methode Champagnois sparkling wine for under 2 euro. I can eat out with a 3 course meal costing 6.95 euro including wine. Can't do that in France.

The quality in France of food IMO is way better than UK or Spain though. Don't get me started on the price of French cheese here now! We like to go out to a bar or three in France. You can get half a litre of decent wine in France for a fiver. About fifteen quid now here. I don't think you can compare French bread to a loaf of mothers pride either. So the moral of the story is just live on cheese and wine.

Personally i much prefer our cheese to french cheese and I believe our meat is way better ... French wine should be cheaper and better, they are after all top dogs when it comes to wine ... A French baguette tastes the same as a nice proper fresh loaf

A French baguette tastes the same as a nice proper fresh loaf Well Mrs D does the shopping both in the UK and in France and in her opinion some things are more expensive others cheaper but overall she reckons what we spend on food and booze in France generally works out cheaper and better quality than home but its been a few years since we went. I would tend to agree as I scoff and quaff it all. Ive rarely had bread in the UK that comes close on taste to a decent bakers in France. We do make some great cheese here but you cant beat an oozing over ripe brie de Meaux or Époisses slapped on some Campagne with some French wine or maybe a Leffe Blonde or Rituel while sat on an Alp. I think you get what you pay for and the meat and poultry whilst not always cheap in France seems pretty good quality to me and more widespread. Certainly supermarket food seems better to me than here as are the eateries. Not had a decent meal or takeaway at all on this trip. Absolute overpriced shite all of it. Best food we have had here has been what we have made in the van. On that front, Im looking forward to getting back to North Yorkshire.

We did around 8 weeks last year in France and prices have defo gone up ... What was once great to pay less is now on many things the same and more ... We eat out here and france and I would say our restaurants are as good as any now if not better ... What tgey do better is the chesper end as in the set meals compared to what I suppose would be our cheap pub grub ... You can't compare our meat for price and quality to france or anywhere in Europe IMO ... I don't know where you're eating in Cornwall but we've had great meals especially seafood

I don't know where you're eating in Cornwall but we've had great meals especially seafood Well its hard to tell really as everything has been battered by Covid, now the Ukraine and dare I say it Brexit. I guess we know where to go up north but it just feels like eating out here is one massive rip off which I wouldnt mind if the quality was good but its not. Perhaps we have been unlucky but its been the same since we first went to the Chippy in Bourton on the Water in super posh (so they say) Cotswolds. Disgusting, threw most of it in the bin. Its hard to find places off the beaten track or off the tourist track at least. We did in a couple of places. Found a couple of Indian restaurants that were ok, in fact they were the best we found and not in what I would call touristy places really. That suggests that the tourist traps are a bit of a rip off. Probably relying on one off passers by who will pay top whack for shite and they wont be coming back anyway. The Lakes can be a bit like that but again I know where to go there as its on my doorstep. Trip advisor reviews or google reviews are useless now as they are full of fake reviews. Well either that or they are reviews from people who will eat shit with sugar on.
