Not had a serious post for a while!
the igniter on our Dometic fridge freezer seems to have stopped working, it's one of those auto ignite models that chooses 240v 12v or gas. It's currently on EHU but when I override the switch and put it on gas I can't hear the clicking of the igniter, nothing, quiet as a mouse! Doing a pub stop tomorrow and would have liked the fridge on gas, will have to put the wine outside to chill instead.
Does anyone know if fixing/replacing the igniter a DIY job? Phill and I between us are reasonably competent DIYing most things

Yes the ignition is easy. First I'd take the cover off the ignition and blow it all out, you may have an insect or a bit of crud preventing it sparking.
When you have it off listen to see if the solenoid is opening and allowing it to pass gas to the burner. You can light it with a match if it is, at least to confirm that the ignition is at fault.
Check for loose connections too. It's often very simple.

Other developments, it's not working on 12v either. Something has gone kaput since last time we used the van a month ago, last night we came out to plug the EHU in and both batteries were flat, the PSU has a charger so we were able to get enough charge to turn the engine over but the control panel display was showing random stuff, I took it off and pulled the ribbon cable from the back then put it back in to reset it and then it was fine but I'm thinking somethings blown to make that happen

Kay, I did a DIY repair myself to get us by until I could have the burner replaced. I would say that Alan's advice is pretty much what I did. It's a really simple piece of kit once you get the panel and cowling off. I would take photographs before you do anything so that when you go to put it all back you'll know where all the leftover pieces go.
Good luck

It'll be the Confuser unit. Renowned on those fridges. Size large hammer is the answer. And people say I'm just a useless fat twat!

It could be a bit of wool stuck in the electrics or an empty Gin bottle has rolled under the Fridge and jammed the works. The igniter must have no 12 volt supply if it is not clicking. If it is not working on 12 volts when the engine is running then you need to check the split charge relay, probably under the bonnet (no, not your bonnet Kay, the motorhome bonnet).

Thanks everyone (even Delphine), I shall look for wool in the morning, if Phill has had one of those ewe things in here there'll be hell to play!
I'd come to the conclusion that it's an electrical problem but wouldn't know what a relay looked like if it hit me on the head and which end is the bonnet?
I need to fix it tomorrow as we're going off EHU and my ice cubes will melt!

The Relay unit is located under the bonnet which is the white lifty up bit at the front. It will look a bit like a small box of Frogs with wires coming out of it. I normally just tug at them a bit, have a fag, belt the box with the hammer I mentioned then try it again. Then when inevitably it doesn't work, call the man.

There is a good chance that when you lift the bonnet, right in front of you (just below the window and in the centre) could be a black plastic cover held on with 2 nuts (ooer Mrs). The split charge relay could be behind it. Here is a wiring diagram for Phil. www.motts.org/SPLIT%20CHARGING%20SYSTEM.htm

Thanks to Barry we managed to find the white lifty up bit at the front and thanks to Gnomey's drawings link we've found the relay for the fridge and it does appear to have melted a little on one of the pins so think that is our problem, next question then:-
Phill took the relay to local motor factors who is asking what amp we want, apparently there are two options! There is no text on the relay itself to give us a clue so after a bit of googling does 140a sound right?
