I got 29. I disagree with the answer to Q10 about what powers stuff when the engine is running. It said alternator, I said Battery. I think the power comes from the battery which is kept charged by the alternator. Any thoughts?

I got 5 wrong
Some of which I consider incorrect e.g. while a steam engine is external it is not a 'combustion' engine - its a boiler.

No Tuggy, it's the alternator. You can take the battery out and it'll keep running. Might do damage to the alternator though.
I got one wrong. My excuse is that it was a stupid question. Can't remember which one oddly.

Top tip - Especially for Bazza.... 'Motorists, don't waste money buying oil for your car. Simply invest in a longer dipstick.'

Can't remember which one oddly. The thing is, though, that all those items will work from the battery while the engine is stopped, but the battery will eventually run down. It needs the alternator to keep the battery topped up, so the battery acts as an accumulator, same as the tank on a compressor. The alternator would blow it's bits if you took the battery out. We were taught that in boat maintenance.
