My turn now. The Dometic 3-way hasn't been brilliant lately. Then the gas ran out, so changed the bottle. I have a nice blue flame and the thremocouple is glowing nice and red. No issues with the gas getting through, it seems. However, the freezer temp is only -3, and the fridge temp is +13! And they don't go any lower. Even on 12 volt. I've yanked the thermostat knob all over the place, I've checked the visible electric contacts both local to the burner and also behind the control panel. I'm loathe to take much to pieces as it's blowing old boots here and the van is rocking all over the place so don't want to risk losing any bits. I've orientated the van is all directions relative to the wind so hopefully that isn't an issue. There'll be no chance of professional help out here, so wondering if any of you have ideas of anything I might try. I'm rapidly eating all the contents so minimise wastage!

You didnt get it sorted then. I cant help I am afraid but the only thing I Would suggest is you see if you can find hookup for a night or two and see if its just on gas. I assume when you say its the same on 12v you can only test that by driving about? If so I doubt it will cool down enough for you to notice on a short drive if its working on battery or not. Ours takes an age to get cool on 12v. If you establish that its working on EHU then maybe at least you will know if its a gas problem or not. or summut. Have you got good internet? Do you want us to start a couple of threads on the other forum(s)?

Our friends hired a van last year and came on a trip with us. Their fridge was the same. It worked fine on EHU but did virtually nothing on 12v or gas. I searched for a solution ( it was 40 degrees and fridge was essential ) but could not find anything to fix it on the spot. As it wasnt their van we shall never know if it got fixed or not. Not helpful, I know. But you dont really need a fridge in Scotland anyway.

It's strange.
The temp readout was stuck on -3 and +11 for a few days. No battery alarms indicated.
I changed the batteries in the sensors, and the readings became -3 and +13.
A few minutes ago I changed the batteries in the readout unit and the readings are now -8 and +13
The stuff in the freezer seems to be frozen OK, though not as cold as I would expect.
The fridge compartment seems cool, though again not as chilled as I think it should be,
Bacon butties and yoghurts for tea. Just had bacon butty lunch. Worra bastud!
Next time I'll come up her in the depths of winter and I'll get my ice cubes off the nearest puddle.

I need a new fridge/freezer according to Tyne Valley Motorhomes. I very reluctantly agreed to let them go ahead. Cost of fridge plus labour for fitting ......... £2350.

I'm not 100% sure, Tugs, but I don't think the 12v setting is affected by the thermostat?? I think it's just 'On' or 'Off', depending upon engine running and the switch setting?
Maybe the system needs 'refilling' (like air-cons regularly do)? Baz's idea of seeing what happens on EHU is the best, though, I think. At least it will isolate WHERE the problem is.

Turning your fridge down so you can woof down the contents doesn't constitute a problem...well not a motorhome one anyway.

He seemed gleeful of this problem when he spoke to me the other day as it enabled him to have an excuse to eat in one session the entire contents of the fridge which I think included three pounds of bacon, 45 Pies, a tub of lard and three kilos of Cheddar. I bet he has done a Mr Creosote and exploded all over South Uist. That will be an environmental disaster the like of which the Outer Hebrides have not experienced since I overdosed there in 2006 on fried whelks, haggis and 12 litres of industrial cider and the porta potty exploded. I hope he is alright. Maybe I should give him a ring. Nah feck him.
