given my recent balls up on the bumper, I'm looking at fitting some aftermarket parking sensors - I already have a rear view camera but that's not so good at judging how close you are to ostab obstick things.
anyone done this?? happy with the results??

Dont have sensors on the van. But have them on my mini and the discovery. A right royal pain in the arse is mo. The mini squeals like a banshee at a leaf. The Disco thinks its a good 2 metres wider and longer than it actually is....wonderful on a car thats absolutely enormous anyway.
But. Maybe if you fit them afterwards you can actually set them to be useful ?

We have got them fats, didn´t bloody work though. There are 8 of the feckers altogether on our van, so when the bloke tested them and thought all was in order who knows which one(s) picked him up. Make sure its a wired installation not a radio signal. Ours are radio signals and work in fits and starts, obviously. Better still, ask the wife to get out and see you back, thats what I am doing from now on, well not your wife, but my Hans

we have parking sensors on the car and yes, it does scream like a banshee when you get into the red zone, but other than that I do find them useful.

I think the trick is to have the red zone set at the right level of distance and sensitivity. The distance setting on the disco is ridiculous. Even when he is screaming blue murder we are a good metre away from any obstacle. Anybody watching you park using it would think you were a total plonker. The mini drives me nuts taking her out of the garage. She doesnt seem to care that I am 10 cm from the wall but the patch of weeds outside send her into a hissy fit.... the Disco sensors are useful/good in that there are combined with a rear camera and given we have dog cage etc in the boot, the rear view mirror is redundant. I would have something similar on the bus. The sensors activate automatically but you can switch off parking aid at the touch of a button...which I cannot do on the mini. so. A sophisticated system like the Landy would be good. A wailing banshee like the mini wouldn't.

WTF do you need censors on a car for? When the car behind you (or pedestrian or cycle etc) starts wobbling or swearing you know you have gone far enough. For the van when the bin, lampost, cyclist etc falls over you know your are about right. Soz.

Got some I fitted on the car . I like them .saves me looking round and can get very close. Good safety for kids too. Squashed kids make a big mess.
Also was on the van but on the front as cannot see right down there. Also annoying beeping when I do run someone over .
