I hear that Torbay is due to be dumped on by lots of snow. That'll learn that smug git Boggers. Bloody Siberia and his brother have hit Torbay today...! A constant strong east wind has been blowing for five days now and the snow that arrived today has been non-stop, comparatively light but constant and driven by that biting wind. Wish I'd stayed in Annecy where it had a feel of 0 degrees (real temp 2 degrees) today - it felt like minus 11 degrees here earlier, a temperature never before felt in glorious Torbay. It's an almost balmy minus 8 at the moment... I've never known this amount of snow in Torbay. I shall be speaking sternly to the Residents Association about this.

Well. the static site is now open again, but they've sent us messages advising not to come yet, roads blocked/treacherous and water supplies to caravans frozen. So you're stuck with me posting seven days a week, like it or not.....

How come when this thing happens everything grinds to a halt? How did hundreds of motorists in Scotland end up stranded for 18 hours? Why the feck are they not more snow ploughs? Too many cars and not enough roads probably doesnt help, trains have all but packed up as well. What do other countries do as many must get more snow than us. Looks mental out there at the moment. We have snough ploughs here in every size, shape and form. We have never known a place be so equipped. BUT. even here was difficult yesterday and overnight. It snowed all the way down into Spain which is rare, so of course the ploughs continually do the main road. Our road was not ploughed since c. 5pm last night and there was 50 cm of snow on it this morning. Doesnt stop anyone going down though... for the UK to have snow ploughs on the odd ocassion there is severe snow is a bit nuts. france is the same . Yeah there are snow ploughs in mountains but on the med ? I dont think so... a couple of years ago our border with France was closed for a week. You had to go the long way round like yesterday. Reason was the snow was all the way from Toulouse to Biarritz...so they needed the ploughs to do that.

Trans-Siberian Express cancelled due to pissing itself laughing at British trains
Trans Siberian railway trains cancelled due to UK weather
Thousands of passengers were stranded across the normally fully-operational frozen tundra of Siberia today after a number of trains had to be cancelled because they were in no fit state to run.
It is thought that the locomotives intercepted a BBC news bulletin, which reported that trains in the UK had been cancelled due to accumulations of more than six millimetres on the tracks, causing the Siberian stock to fall from their sidings in hysterics.
Residents of Oymyakon in the Sakha Republic, who have a regular service as long as the snow is less than five feet deep and the temperatures stay above -60 degrees, were bemused by the lack of a service and demanded an explanation.
“It’s just not good enough,” said 89-year-old grandmother Raisa Pavlova, “I have been up walking the dogs since 6am, tended to my elderly parents and now I just want to go into town for a cup of tea, yet despite the mild conditions, we have no transport.”
Meanwhile, back in the UK, it is thought that further forecasts of up to three inches of snow will lead to all trains and planes being cancelled and result in most schools to closing until the summer.
Sir Peter Hendy, Chairman of Network Rail told us today, ‘We will not risk the lives of our passengers and staff when there is a light dusting of snow possibly forecast, we apologise for the inconvenience and assure customers that we hope to be cancelling trains for more normal reasons, such as industrial disputes and appalling management, as soon as possible.”
Russian media has released unconfirmed reports that a rail boss will be executed for every cancelled train across the country, a model that Theresa May is reportedly interested in exploring.

Some lovely photos there Kay.
We managed to travel and park up in our usual dog walking spot. I took a chance because we feed the wild birds and I was a bit worried about them surviving the cold weather without help. We had a shorter walk than usual but it is still bitterly cold. That wind cuts right through you.

Snow's all melting now - nearly all gone.
Aaaah... Back to normal. (Or as near 'normal' as you can get, here in Geriatric Valley...)
