It never ceases to amaze me that the designers (aka Marine Architects) of these floating shoe boxes (aka Cruise Ships) don't seem to realise that their creations will actually sail the Seven Seas.
And that the said oceans frequently get very rough indeed.
I my days at sea in the MN (60's) everything that could move was either permanently bolted down or could be quickly secured by means of bottle screws to eyes in the deck.
Even on passenger ships.
My Radio Room chair could be secured in about 30 secs. The only thing that pissed me orf was that my pencil would roll around and off the desk!

The furniture flying about is deadly and really shouldnt happen surely. I dunno what they have done with the channel ferries as they used to bob around a bit in the olden days but last time we came home on one early winter it was blowing a force 9-10 and the sea was mountainous but the boat was as stable as anything. Well ish.

Well ish. I always understood that they could deploy "stabilisers" (blades that stick out of the hull and calm down the rolling of the ship) but that cost more in fuel so they only use them when absolutely necessary. Dunno if this is true... I read so much shit and ''false news" these days that I never know what's true and what's not...
