The Police spent 10,000 quid to take the cones down? Why the police? What a waste of police resources!
Anyway if there is always one up there the novelty may wear off. OR grease the statue with an impregnated dye.

What I want to know is how they work out it costs £100 each time they have to knock off a cone. Wny dont they just have a window pole handy next to the statue and everytime a bobby passes by they just knock it off? How can that cost £100? They can then save money by rescuing the cones and giving them back to the traffic wombles who can then cancel their order for the missing ones saving even more money. Im wasted on here.

It costs £100 because it is our money not theirs.

That problem exists in Exeter where the students and patrons of Weatherspoons just down the road from the clock tower regularly deposit a traffic cone on the head of the statue of Sir Redvers Buller..... who the heck is that you may ask..... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redvers_BullerI reckon it looks good on there and fits him well......

"Up the Scots" is a comment that many people would make, I am not sure what interpretation to give it?
