Is it time we had some sensible (ish) threads? Should I create a sensible forum board? Look what these two have said in here (both members I might add). www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopic-179217-20.htmlWhat do the users want? Let me know then Ill pretend to read them and just do what I like anyhow. I think its a good idea. Do I? Yes I do. I think.

Well when I started a sensible thread, albeit with a humorous twist, HERE, to give you lot the benefit of my hard won experience (which could also save people some dosh), I was excoriated for it by no less than Turncoat Tuggles and yourself, so as far as I'm concerned, THIS THREAD is my answer.

Sensible - Dictionary definition:- having, using, or showing good sense or sound judgment:
Come on Boss, get real! Think about it.

We cater for a niche market. You can get sensible posts anywhere on the web including Motorhome Facts and now I have gone most of the stupid, immature, off topic crap has disappeared.
I would argue we do have a higher level of experience on Monetary moments and Political Matters which means we are perfectly capable of being sensible but then again boring.
Motorhome Facts is for Born again Liberals.
MotorhomeFruitcakes is for abnormal people with issues.

For god's sake don't do sensible Barry. The sensible people are well catered for already. If Fruitcakes isn't to their taste that's fine.

Ok point taken. I just think that eventually we may all get bored and too much tomfoolery overload. I set this up for some fun and I dont want anyone to feel obliged to keep posting bollox because they feel they have to and its whats expected. I dont give a toss but recently I started to wonder if it was possible to take the best bits out of all the forums and start one super forum where we have a wilding section, a fruitcakes section where anything goes and a FACTS type section.
In other words I am prepared to take on the lot of them and be a competitor. There I have said it!
I never thought about competing with the others and I am still loyal to facts and wildcamping but is there perhaps an opening for a kind of middle ground between the two where we have a laugh and attract like minded nutters but also discuss some proper stuff?
IF not then fair enough but this will place will die eventually and thats ok. I dont mind. It was just for fun and perhaps thats what is should remain.
Im serious now. I want to know what you think.

I tend to think that wouldn't work. Here you have control of the membership which is likely to stay fairly small, for the time being anyway. We can therefore say what we like and not offend anyone. It's almost like a private club for schoolboys. We all know where we stand.
Once you add other serious elements to it, it becomes open to all and sundry (no disrespect to anyone intended) and then you have less control and you need moderators to keep us all in order. You don't want to start something that could become a burden on your time, as it could become a chore to run it.
I dunno, could you have an umbrella MH forum with a separate section that only very special idiots like us could access?

It's your forum Barry, and you should do what you feel is the right thing for you. Like Tuggy I feel we would not mix well with the great many stuffed shirts on the other fora/ums. If we carried on as we are now you won't attract them I think. Look at the number of members you have now and consider why so many don't post. My feeling is that they like a giggle but won't join in and that as long as we say the things we do they won't. Remember that lots of these people consider themselves normal and very likely see what goes on here as anything but. Just my view. You must do what you decide is best.

(I make too many decisions during the working day, my brain doesnt have decision making capabilities after 6pm). Sometimes life can be shitty but I've laughed out loud so many times reading the posts here, I look forward to logging in and seeing what you barking mad lot have been up to (while I have been working) and I doubt you'd maintain a serious section longer than 3 posts given the mentality of my fellow fruitcakes If you've an urge to set up something serious (ish) and compete with Facts and wildcamping try a seperate forum? all your fruitcakes would support it

Good point Tuggers. I like the underground small membership thing. I might though encourage a new forum section where we can post real stuff.
I am glad that we have gathered some like minded folk but I feel we have more to say than just taking the piss and this is a good place to do it. If you want to.

As other forums have a "pub" section for possibly offensive tomfoolery, perhaps us fruitcakes could have "The Office" for mundane regular stuff?
I would be happy to donate my collection of wildcamping locations.
The dogging ones im keeping to myself.

Good points Tutts and Alan.
Its not just my forum though. ITs yours. I just want to do what the rest of you want. Maybe I am trying to fix something that isnt broken.
If you have any ideas and that includes you lot who are lurking let me have them. Otherwise it will stay as it is which may not be a bad thing.
Must admit. I cant keep up with the threads right now!
