My inclination is towards not changing too much if at all. This forum has evolved with a distinct identity and 'feel' which is clearly appreciated and supported at a sustainable level. It gives an opportunity to behave differently from the other fora(ums) to which most of us belong and allows perhaps a certain sort of trust between the posters which does not happen with a mass audience. That is a little strange since we all know that everything is seen by many more but somehow that doesn't inhibit a different, perhaps closer, relationship. Bit like a pub where you know that others can hear but still say things intended only for your group. There are serious elements which emerge here on an almost spontaneous basis and that makes them even more worthwhile. So leave the mh stuff to the others, MHF, FUN and wildcamping are all good sites in their own way - this one has become just as good in its own way. a different slant but still with the common motorhome base. Well that's what I think anyway Alan

When I get up the morning, once I've walked the dog in order to evacuate her various compartments, I fire up the laptop, get a mug of builder's tea, check emails, then Fruitcakes is my next stop in order to start the day with a good old chortle. Then I go to MHF to check what's been going on there. This all takes me till about lunchtime!
I think we should all continue to inject some humour over on MHF to keep that lot on their toes otherwise they'll begin to think they've got rid of us.
Alan makes some very good points above. I also feel we've developed a genuine trust and friendship between us Fruitcakes, I know i've divulged personal information to you lot that I haven't elsewhere. I suppose that is done in a kind of anonymous way as you cannot presently identify me, but I will fell no embarassment about it when I meet some of you. We're buddies right?

To add my tuppence worth (again), I don't think that this is the sort of site where other motorhomers in general are likely to come for serious advice. I could be wrong, of course, and generalisations are, well, generalisations, but if I had a serious problem to which I needed an answer, or wanted to impart serious information to others through this site, I would simply post it in the appropriate board which already exists here. However, I don't think that other MHers who are not already active members here are going to look to the site for serious advice or information, though personally, I do know that the regulars here are as knowledgeable (and in some areas, even more so) than MHers anywhere else, and just as ready to help, should I, or anyone else, ask for it.
In short, if you try to adapt this site to make it 'all things to all men' (with no offence to Mrs T et al.), it will lose it's particular identity and appeal, and end up transformed into a pastiche of those other sites. I would also add, that if those other sites had fulfilled the needs which this site does, then this site would not have expanded and become as popular as it already has.
There is some truth in the adage: 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'

You must American blood in you, Knackers. You just took about 10 minutes to say fuck all! Au contriare, as our Froggie mates would say. It's my legal training; the more you say, the more clients pay! BTW, your accusation that I said eff all is off the mark; just because you are unable to comprehend my elegant English it is wrong for you to conclude that I said nuffink.

Oh, I have just read through all the erudite comments on here and am now totally confused.....
I thought this forum WAS sensible, now someone has cast nasturtiums that it is not......
Where can I go to get reassurance that this forum is for sensible people and that ALL of the comments reflect the sensible middle of the road responses that we all know and love?
Surely no-one could suggest that Seanhasanache or Titanic the Tugboat, or alhold, ernegirl or even adlib himself are anything less than 110% serious?
Note I have not mentioned everyone in that list but do not wish to make any suggestions that giants such as Johniscross, kaytuttuttut or Jumbojet or anyone else are not included in this list for the same reason, or anyone else that I have overlooked......

Don't feel sad Penquin old chap. Feeling sensible does not last long and doing sensible things is even shorter.
Quite often when a newbie joins a forum, some wag says 'welcome to the madhouse'. Hee, hee, hee, if a stranger turns up at our doorstep he really is being welcomed to a madhouse.
