Right. I have looked on the other chanel. The search function is hopeless so I gave up.
i have a laptop. Never had one before. We will take it in the bus for various purposes but how do we charge it ? pads and phones have usb chargers but what do we do with a laptop ? We are never on hookup and will be off for a month... We have a built in invertor but only 300w ( from memory ) Help !

300w inverter will be sufficient to charge the laptop but of course it needs to be powered from the leisure or engine battery. Just charging the laptop won't put much of a load onto the batts but if you are drawing lots each evening it might just be the straw that flattens the camels back.

Thanks both . Will check what sort of inverter it is...pretty sure pure sine wave. But universal charger seems a good thing too.
The voltage input on the back says 19v . Would that make sense ?

Yes as some are 12 to 24v capable.

Yeah most are around that. You just select the appropriate voltage on the adaptor. Might be worth checking the wattage as well but if it's a newish laptop it will be around 45 and that charger I linked to is 90. It' needs to be well less than 90.

To charge our laptop its plugged into a cigarette lighter socket Hans fixed up that runs from the engine battery, so when we are travelling the laptop battery gets charged up. I also have a second battery Sal. the extra was only about 12€ so you could also buy a few extra and keep them all charged up for long stays . I can´t find my charger on the internet, but its for mains or the cig. socket and can be altered for different inputs similar to the one Barry has shown you.

Here's another top tip for the summer at least if you have solar. Firstly keep your laptop plugged in all the time with the 12v adaptor to avoid it running down and having to put a big load on the Hab battery to charge it and if you can do most of your stuff in the morning. That way you will still have hours of solar In the afternoon to top up the battery.
Spring and summer I can run mine constantly all day though if I wish

We are away in December and although we will get some fine crisp days there will also be a lot of greyness about. We are installing a BtoB...and another battery (2x 160 amph)...plus we have the generator. Usually when we go to the biathlons we book a campsite for the actual meet as its easy. We have 3 weekends on the trot this year , no campsites so proper off grid 🙂 In theory it should be fun....

You should have plenty of power with two of then batteries though and a genny and for a weekend you should be able to fill your boots I would have thought. I hate being off hookup in Winter though. One 125ah battery and its shit.

We have two 110ah batteries plus a Sterling B2b charger - we've never run out of juice, and we wild all the time, even in winter. I have a 12v laptop power supply that works fine ( I think it's a type of inverter).

With our old laptop we ran it with the battery out when watching a film in the evening, with the battery in we seemed to draw more juice (I suspect it was powering the internal battery charger whilst we drained the laptop battery).

OK, so I need to find one of these charger thingys with a European plug. We is a French bus remember....and a Spanish laptop ( purchased in Andorra, To avoid the horrid French AZERTY keyboard. There are many things wrong about the French and the keyboard comes top of the list !)
