Morning, Whilst we don't generally like to post, with rumors of the government increasing Insurance Premium Tax again, we sent an open letter to our MP. We feel passionately that continually increasing the tax on socially positive motor & home insurance acts as a disincentive to buy, hits the poorest hardest: www.aib-insurance.co.uk/news/iptMany Thanks AIB Insurance 02380 268351

I agree with them.
Might be an idea if the Motor Insurers Bureau decided to NOT compensate victims of those on the road without insurance, and directed them to the various Government Compensation schemes instead, like the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme and various other Social Benefits schemes.
Until such time as the Government stops taxing insurance at these rates.
"Be socially responsible and get taxed..." Or "Be socially irresponsible and pay no tax..." Which is better for the country?

Of course the government are going to increase the tax on the insurance. Lets face it we are already paying for all our insurances like the good law abiding citizens we are and therefore we are deemed soft targets by the powers to be and ripe for pillage.
I am surprised that there isn't a law that allows them to pick us by the ankles and shake us until they can be sure that we haven't any money left in our pockets.

D'you remember Denis Healey, when Chancellor of the Exchequer, saying he was going to "tax the rich until the pips squeaked"? That was just before all the wealthy, the bosses, the surgeons, etc., left the country and that was just before the Labour Government went cap-in-hand to the International Monetary Fund to take out a loan to bail the country out...??
