When I worked London it wasn't unusual to see the same people on different marches for totally unrelated matters. Yes, spot on, Tel. You could tell when they arrived - the mood of the people you were near changed. "RentaMob". Our Guv'nors were terrified of 'em, after Blair Peach. At Red Lion Square demo, the Guv'nors were doing NOTHING, and we were getting a right hammering (in the days before shields/batons/riot gear - lots of our guys injured with the sharpened poles of placards). So some guy in the middle shouted "Draw truncheons!" and the panicky Guv'nors were running around at the back, panicking, waving their arms and shouting "No, no, put them away!".... Too late... A few demonstrators got whacked and gradually their violence faded away.THAT'S the way to break up a demo that's turned violent - not just standing there getting whacked and injured.

See that pratt Abott is saying the polis should not be knocking the moped louts of the bikes as it might injure them.

What it needs is for one of these scrotes to target HER mobile 'phone, try to snatch it out of her hand and drag her down the road hanging onto it.... Noticed that The Rt Hon Her Ladyship May has supported this Police action.

It should be considered part of the hazards of doing crime while riding a motorcycle/moped that if you fall off your 'bike, then YOU are responsible if you break a bone. Once the principle of injuries sustained when fleeing capture by pursuing Police are YOUR fault, then all this sort of crime will cease.

Cressida Dick has admitted that a couple of the 'moped display team' have broken bones whilst performing their stunts on the front of police cars. Brings a tear to your eye that does.

Remember Paul Boateng (Baron Boeteng)? He was Labour MP for Brent South and always seemed to be knocking the police for their unfair persecution of black youths who were getting blamed for the high level of street crime. When I was Station Officer at Brockley police station (a rather grandiose tittle for the one officer working at the nick) I had Mr Boeteng come to the front counter to report that he'd been threatened and had his wallet and car keys stolen from him before seeing his attackers drive off in his nice new car. He was very reluctant to give a description of his attackers but eventually he described two black youths and I told him that they fitted the description of a couple who had been terrorising the area for weeks performing streets robberies. When I took his details for the crime report he said 'I suspect you know who I am?' I told him I didn't need to know who he was other than the details needed for the crime report. He then told me that he would sue me if I went to the press with the story...cheeky twat!
