Annecy

It's quite problematic, Joe. There aren't that many close in to Annecy - two main ones... an aire, at Les Marquisates, BUT... there are only just TEN spaces so it's ALWAYS full! The other is the Municipal, on the road up to the Semnose Mountain, above the castle and near the church. It has a lot more spaces and, depending upon time of year, more chance of getting in. My son stayed there about ten years ago and liked it, and I noticed last year that they were doing some major building work there (dunno what).
Other than those, the rest are all out of Annecy. Baz, I think, stayed at one near Val de Fier (a llama farm!). Two others that I stayed at years ago are no longer there.
There are several at Sevrier (at least two) and they are right by the lake.

It wasnt a Llama farm but an Ostrich farm and its about 8 miles to the north west (I think) of Annecy town and no good without secondary transport. The one we have mainly stayed on over the years is the private farm Aire at Lathule at the bottom end of the lake which has always been ok but the last time we stayed there in peak season it was so rammed we left after one night. We have wilded in the past by a college near the lake but got moved on by the rozzers the next morning last time so have not been back.

You can try wilding up by the Decheterie (rubbish tip), and also a few places around if you're sensible. You could also wildcamp among the gay boys at La Visitation (church) car park, but keep your doors locked at night, unlesss you're up for some bum-plundering instead of sleeping...

Not in a moho but a folding camper so no aires for us. I did notice that most of the sites seem south of Annecy itself, just used it as a reference. We hope to be there first week in April. Thanks boggers and Bazza.

Just tried to look at the ACSI site but its shit and doesnt work properly on the map. Looks like as you say there are plenty south of the town. I forgot you were using a trailer so you will have a car then so you can drive up to the town although not sure what the parking is like. I just dump the bike anywhere.
Dont forget over the hill less than an hour away is Lake Bourget which I think is the largest natural lake in France. There is a site right on the lake at the bottom end which is ok (has an aire attached) and its a nice drive up in the hills either side with some great views of the lake. Same on Annecy as well. Col de Forclaz? Can never remember.
Heres my video of riding round both. It was Bastud hot as feck that day.

This is a map of Bourget, some good views and a nice drive round the lake from the point marked and also from up at Mont Revard (Retard I call it) and the campsite at the bottom.
