Heike had her first `go´ driving the Navajo this morning, as she normally drives LHD car she did very well, her instructor had to remind her to give a bit more welly than the car when starting off, to keep more over to the right and change up a gear now and then. We didn't go on straight even surfaced roads, all twist, turn and bumpy so she had a good practice on the gear change. When we got home she reversed it onto it´s spot with a bit of guidance from the instructor and parked perfectly. It will be good taking it in turns to drive when we leave on Thursday.

That should take some of the pressure off by having a spare driver. Safe travels for you both.
We are packing our van and getting ready for the off. Quick dash to Calais and then home by Thursday as we have a busy schedule ahead. SiL has already left as he has a ferry to check over at Calais on Tuesday. With a bit of luck and some subtle planning he should be finished by the time it gets to Dover and he will get a free trip.

What a morning and afternoon we've had. First 40 km there and 40 back to the bank to get that sorted, then to the place to get the car ownership changed into my name where they needed a brand new Registration certificate so had to do another 30 km. there and back to get that renewed and we have to go back tomorrow to collect car registration papers. We left home ar 11.15 am and arrived back at 4pm. little Motley had been at home alone all that time. By the time we had our lunch we were both waked, but Heike then called the insurance man to see if she was allowed to drive the Navajo and as I thought, the car and Navajo can be driven by anyone over the age of 23. Tomorrow afternoon someone else is coming to look at all the bits and pieces of tools ( not the lathe) and hopefully he will relieve me of some more stuff. Horst will take more rubbish to the junk yard. After that we stop worrying about things here and get the van ready for the off on Thursday. Its a holiday in Germany Thursday, the reunification of east & west day, so hopefully not a lot of traffic on the motorway and we can make good progress to Heike´s place. Now you know why you are not seeing much of me, too much to do.
