That's a shame. In view of the potentially astronomical costs involved, I still think that the alternative of engaging an engineer via a German motoring organisation, to do a full written report before any work begins, is the safest way forward for you. It'll cost a nominal amount, but at least you'll have some peace of mind that you're not being ripped off. Good luck Mildew. It is the ADAC garage, at least thats what it looks like. Hess GmbH & Co. KG Landecker. 4-6 36251 Bad Hersfeld The link I copied doesn't work. I'm not sure about this, Mildew. Perhaps it's just an "Approved" garage, like a lot of ours are "AA/RAC Approved", which means nothing in practical terms. Imho, first you need INDEPENDENT advice of an independent engineer working for YOU, before you approve work to be done by any garage, ADAC Approved or not. So... In my view you need two things - an independent assessment of what is really wrong (not vague guesses by a mechanic or fitter) and then the work carried out by a competent garage. The more major the work, the bigger and more professional the garage should be (giving access to more and more specialist equipment/tools), right up to a Fiat dealer if really necessary. But it sounds as though this garage should be Ok?

It says on the side of the (clean and smart!) truck "On behalf of ADAC", which suggests that they do nothing more than accept work from ADAC, which in turn suggests a level of confidence in them by ADAC to recover vehicles. That's all.
I still think Mildew needs someone "on her side", to look after HER interests in assessing the repair of the Navajo, rather than a profit-motivated garage calling all the shots and no-one else knowing what's going on. I've been close enough to the garage industry to know all the tricky manoeuvres they get up to (not that I'm suggesting this garage is involved in doing this...)

I Agree with you. Depends whats practical though as well. Its not a good situation to be in. The vehicle is nowhere near Millys home or her temporary one.

Really hope it's not the garage taking advantage that really would be shameful.
Surely someone can be found to give trustful advice even if it costs a small amount for it.
