Sal, you will find that there is a big difference between mending healthy bones (painful but temporary) and joints that are arthritic.
I will put it down to the innocence of youth. It wasn’t the bone that caused the issues . It’s the soft tissue damage . The entire lower leg . A broken bone is bugger all ....🙂

Wimps, the lot of ya! After having my heart surgically ripped from my chest for a quadruple bypass, I then had my hip joint ripped apart, to be replaced with a lump of titanium... But tell that to youngsters of today and they won't believe you... youtu.be/qlIXn0r0AY8

Tough totty as well as posh then. Pleased to hear how fit you are Sal. As I could neither run or ski before my hip op I am glad I can still walk, I never did limp. Oh Sarah is tough totty alright - she has tamed the Panzer Division into doing all the cooking....
......but he gets his own back - he leaves lots of mess for her to clear up after.
Here it is the reverse -Basia mostly cooks ....
... and yes, you have guessed.

Here we are awaiting to find out how Basia's 15 year-old grandaughter fares.
At school they were doing gymnastics and some lumbering heavyweight guy smashed into her knee. She had an operation to insert a plate where bone had been chipped off.
As you say Sarah the soft tissue damage might be more serious, but we will not know till the end of 6 weeks when she can start to walk.
She is frustrated because she is a very keen and competitive swimmer(did well in regional competition recently). One advantage of her swimming is that it should be good therapy for her recovery as it does not put too much pressure on the broken parts. Unlike mogul fields, eh Sarah? But like Blanche in Sinatra's 'A swell Party' you 'got up and finished'. We hope Amelia will also.

Yeah Sal. Better a one-off injury, albeit serious at the time and prolonged pain for a finite period, than chronic joint pain.
Please allow us rickety oldies, (and a f**ked-up younger one) an occasional moan.
We did, (and still do) sympathise with you at the time of your nasty injury, and seriously hope it doesn't lead to arthritis for you in later life.
No fun when the freezing weather brings on attacks of the twinging screws.

Your not kidding. I can swim further than I can walk. Actually much fecking further. 100 yards on a good day probably. If it gets icy I might just strap a metal tray to my arse and just get about on that. I'm always arsing around anyway

Interestingly, my hip problem started after a Long Distance Walk (the Chanctonbury Marathon - 25 miles) over 20 years ago and it was a soft tissue injury, NOT the hip joint per se. Yet it required a total hip replacement to put right...

Oh I dont envy any of you the aches and pains of age ( or general disrepair in Bazzas case ). I already get joint pain in the knuckles on my left hand , pretty much every morning but it passes. I gripped the crutch/ stick etc with that hand for months on end and it often hurt more than the fecking leg ! If thats the only consequence I will be happy. Its normal to have a poke at you old fogeys from time to time. And I am not exactly young FFS. Only a year less than Bazza and look at the state of him ! I am grateful for large mercy's ...
