WTF does it mean to be in limp mode --- other than the obvious, that which most of you are all the time

It's also called "I've got a headache" or "Not tonight"...!!

Jan the engine management detects an error or problem with the engine and dramatically reduces the power so you can still drive but only slowly. It's often called limp home mode. Sometimes it can be reset by stopping, turning of the engine and then turning it back on. On my little Ford Fiesta it goes into limp mode when the fuel is very low (a state MrsGB seems to leave it in!).

Thank you Terry your a gent, sometimes😄
I often used to nearly run out of petrol in Hans' car when I first knew him, had it been the other way round one might have been suspicious.😊

The motorhome hasn't gone into limp mode has it, Milly? I'm deffo in limp mode. Got arthritis in both knees now and it's bloody well crippling me. Doctor says I have to have physio before any other treatment can be considered. The reps that the physio has prescribed hurt me more than the bloody arthritis. Can't bloody win...
Edit.
Just saw your other post....

The Wife is getting physio for Arthritis in her knee. It doesn't sound as bad as yours but not much fun when you walk dogs every day for a couple of hours. Ironically she was OK until some exuberant Whippets knocked her off her feet 5 or 6 years ago.
Same situation as you, they will not do anything else until physio has been administered.

Knees are not as easy as hips and tugs has found that out, almost a year since his knee op and he's still in trouble.

Thats another reason Im reluctant to get mine done. Well that and the fact they basically said I was too young and couldnt be trusted to not break them. It seems to go wrong for loads of people.
Ive always had limp mode though and also Pinball mode which is what your body applies when you walk home from the pub.

Limp mode is a security function for your engine and transmission.
When the engine or transmission control unit has recognized a serious faulty parameter from the engine or transmission the car will go into limp mode.
Limp mode is said to have an initial stage where engine revs are limited to 3000rpm, followed by a 2nd stage where engine revs are limited to 1500rpm.
That will be £99.99 for the reply or you can alternatively pay my yearly subscription to Boss Bloke at Fruitcakes Headquarters somewhere in the back of beyond in Yorkshire.

We were in limp mode last year when the turbo was buggered . We still flew past other vehicles which pleases his krautness immensely. I did suggest that maybe they were all in limp mode too but he wasn’t having it . And please stop moaning about yer hips and knees . Some of us had unscheduled surgery on a smashed up leg . It was bloody hard work but I can now run and ski . It still has its moments but they say that a severe injury will take a top sportsman 2 years to regain full strength and mobility . On that basis I am bloody pleased with myself 🙂

Tough totty as well as posh then. Pleased to hear how fit you are Sal. As I could neither run or ski before my hip op I am glad I can still walk, I never did limp.

Sal, you will find that there is a big difference between mending healthy bones (painful but temporary) and joints that are arthritic.
I will put it down to the innocence of youth.
