Every time I look at the new posts page and see a thread titled 'Marmot Shit', I think to myself "That is not a title you would see anywhere else". Mind you, I suppose it might crop up in a biology book somewhere. Wonder if it needs a whole chapter? You could always start a thread on FUCTS on the subject and Barry could join in. After all, he seems to post more, and more informative, stuff there than here on his own site. Lets face it he mainly goes on there to beg for help, fridge, exhaust and other random bits and pieces that most of us manage not to detach from our vehicles. Anything that isn't technical such as the removal of Marmot shit from the bedding is left for us to sort out! Do you think that he doesn't have any trust in our technical expertise?

I read some the stuff on FUCTS about electrics, engines, load factors, tyres, batteries etc and think wtf?? do I need to know all that shit?? I just get in Pearl and drive her. if she breaks down then I'll get someone to fix her rather than scratch my bollocks wondering what to do. but saying that - I changed a fucked light bulb in my o/s rear brake light this week. go me!

Way I see it, we're just his second class pals (or, in some cases, third class) as he saves all his interesting stuff for FUCTS. For example, did he tell us how to find out our altitude? 'Nuff said.

Well if we are going all technical and self-congratulatory; This computer numpty managed to tether my new laptop to the newish smartphone. So now i will be able to annoy the shit out of you guys and girls when on tour. I think I should leave the laptop alone - 'quit while you are ahead' comes to mind

I haven't needed to be technical over the past few days...brute force and ignorance trying to get my garden back into some semblance of order. Chainsaws, hedge trimmers and axes have been my weapons of choice...surprising how 15 years of neglect mounts up! Don't need to know what size cable, pipe or engine torque for this task, voltage drop and fuse size is irrelevant...just need to know how hard I need to hit it.

Having been a landscaper all my like I feel qualified to answer that question.
Most things need hitting very hard, except things which will break, unless of course you are trying to break them. I'm sure that's right.

I'm sure that's right. Thank you that was most informative, I have generally hit most things as hard as can as this has served me well in the past. I now have a neat pile of logs, a hedge I can see over and a back ache that will require several glasses of wine to relieve. The other bonus, having used the chainsaw is that I still have all my digits left!

Did hitting the hedge improve it? I admit I've never adopted that approach, it may be something which will catch on.

'Hedge thrashing' is a rural past time here. 'Brier beating' was tried but never really caught on due to the thorns. This should not be confused with 'beating your meat' which is a different sort of past time activity.

I seem to have spent the time working or doing up various houses for my son, daughter and a couple for ourselves. I thought that when I retired I would whip the garden into shape but three years later it's still the same. I've even got a guy coming next week to chop down some of the bigger trees as they are far too big for me to tackle. Since my last efforts involved dropping a large conifer on the roof of our conservatory the wife is a little touchy when I get the chainsaw out. We have a log burner so I am hoping that the anticipated pile of firewood will help to offset the cost!

Actually knackers the main reason I've not been on here much and on Fucts more seeing as I obviously have to justify where I spend my fecking time is because Fucts has a mobile text version whereas this site does not and I'm finding it hard with shit wifi or a crappy mobile signal in the bastard mountains surrounded by marmot shit and worryingly this morning what looks distinctively like Bear shit (outside the van not in my van, yet) to access fruitcakes!!!
Coupled with this the bloody remotes knackered on the Telly so I can't play my USB DVD,s etc through it so I'm using up the laptop power on that all the time.
Don't worry when (if bear permitting) I get back down to civilization and proper wifi ill be back to sort you out. Ill have days to think up what to do with you!
