having not long had the rear bumper replaced on Pearl after me damaging it last year, I have only fucking gone and wrecked the bloody thing again!!! we had a 2 day drive back from Austria through the heat furnace (thank feck for aircon in the cab) and just arrived on the free aire near the rowing lake at Gravelines for the night. after reversing onto the grass area I wasn't happy with the level, so decided to pull out and try again. what I hadn't realised - or seen - is that I was too close to a small willow tree (when I reversed first it must have blended into the background of the lake bank) so just turned the steering wheel rather than drive out straight and turn. kerboom - caught the bumper on the tree and nearly ripped the bloody thing off, pulling the 3 light cables out at the same time. after mucho swearing at myself for my stupidity - I was pretty knackered after a busy weekend and long drive - we set to getting it fixed. I managed to rewire the lights so at least became road legal and fixed the bumper back with gaffer tape and managed to get back home yesterday safe and sound. but the bumper needs replacing as it's broken in parts and I'm not sure a plastic repair job will look good or be sufficient. so a new bumper is to be ordered and I will not make another insurance claim but suck the cost up - probably looking at the best part of a grand. looking at the way it's fitted, I might even have a go at fitting it myself to save some money - it looks pretty straightforward although I'm sure that Bazza would fuck that up.... so, arse, wank, bollocks!!!!!!!!!

too right - I was fucking fuming and angry at my stupidity. but in my defence, I just hadn't seen this tree (it was only about 6' tall) when I reversed in even though I used the wing mirrors when doing so - it blended so well into the background. I gave it a right kicking!!! (not that it did any good of course)

I´m glad I´m not the only one. Saw a repair bloke today (not the one we hope to use) he said no way can he repair it, has to be a new part . We will see, it doesn´t interfere with anything and if we had white gaffa tape on it, hardly noticeable Its too big, the picture that is, and I can´t reduce it.

Oh join the Twat Club... Driving OUT of mil's driveway, a tight angle (the driveway, not her, twats!) I was going v-e-r-y slowly forward, watching the front wing closely against the concrete post...yeah,watching it TOO closely... KERRUNCH... the nearside door scraped along the other post. It's buggered the trim round the door, plus the bottom of the door (superficial) but worst of all is the end of the step, neatly folded in. Not repairable except by replacing the whole step panel (if I can get hold of one). So you're not alone, Fats. Is there any Fruitcake who HASN'T done anything dopey like this? If there is, ban 'em, Baz, for being a clever smart-arse!

Last year, big open car park, wide grass verge, one fecking concrete bin and a twat reversing his motor home, what could go wrong? Fitted beepers this year...bolloxy bastud things stopped working when we had a massive thunder storm. Can't be arsed to climb under the van to try and fix them so I will wait until I knock the bumper off as it will be easy to gain access.

Let us know how you get on with them? We've (our Club) not used them, but just had them recommended - it'd be nice to know how good (or otherwise!) they are.

This is another reason to get a Scooter rack fitted. It doubles as a battering ram.
Over the past 9 years ive knocked over an Aire de Camping Car sign, a Lampost and sent an industrial size wheelie bin down Figiac high street. Probably a few cyclists and pedestrians (unconfirmed)

ta for that - I'll give them a bell. Let us know how you get on with them? We've (our Club) not used them, but just had them recommended - it'd be nice to know how good (or otherwise!) they are. they replied quickly! they way they work is to take the existing damaged bumper, make a mould and create a new GRP (not flimsy ABS that most m/h's have) bumper/part, which then gets sprayed to colour match and fitted. to do this for my bumper and side panel (which also suffered), is going to cost just under £800 plus £100 fitting (all incl VAT) which I think is not too bad at all. the quote for a plastic repair last time came to that ex-VAT, and new ones from Rollerteam would cost at least 2x. takes about 3 weeks in total as they need the m/h to take the damaged units off to create the mould so it's booked in for mid-July. I'll let you know how I get on!!
